New Zealand Diploma in Performing Arts

This programme offers two specialisations: Musical Theatre and Māori and Pacific Dance.

Musical Theatre

Sing, act, dance. Be a ’triple threat’ as a versatile performer. Every year you’ll perform in a major show such as our recent productions of The Addams Family and Little Shop of Horrors. Work with musical directors and choreographers who are in demand.

Māori and Pacific Dance

Learn Māori, Samoa, Cook Islands and New Zealand contemporary dance. Through this fusion develop the future of dance in Aotearoa. Build strengths in technique, performance and choreography. Students have worked with internationally-acclaimed dance company Black Grace and performed in a range of productions.

Programme outline

Each specialisation includes contextual and professional studies, four specialist technique courses, and two performance courses that integrate learning from the technique courses.

The first year courses address a wide range of basic skills and knowledge in each specialist genre, while the second year courses extend that learning and further develop artistry and creativity. The second year also adds creative enterprise to develop basic business skills.
