As you explore the city, keep an eye out for 12 unique installations featuring garments from the World of WearableArt historical collection. You can view some of these extraordinary works of art at Te Auaha Gallery until 12 October.

“Te Auaha is proud to be a part of the World of WearableArt Awards Show again this year. Our long standing partnership with WOW provides excellent opportunities for a wide range of our students to be a part of the magic, and express their creative flair. Students from hairdressing and makeup artistry as well as our broad variety of performing arts programmes can get involved in the explosion of creativity that is WOW,” said Te Auaha Director Victoria Spackman.

Amanda Kisona studied makeup artistry at WelTec a few years ago and jumped at the opportunity to work on the WOW Model Makeup team. “I loved the fast paced environment! This was an amazing opportunity which allowed me to push my creativity and network within the industry.” Amanda is now a full-time Makeup Artistry Tutor at Te Auaha and back at WOW again for their 30th anniversary on the Character Makeup team.

One of Amanda’s current students Kinomi Maruyama says, “WOW has been an incredible experience getting to work in a professional industry environment that allows us to collaborate with the hairdressers, models and dancers. I have learnt so much in the past week about how a show runs and what makeup artists are required to do backstage which are vital skills I will never forget.”

Te Auaha is full of creative people and creative spaces working across many disciplines including hair and beauty, makeup artistry, performing arts, music, radio, musical theatre, writing and film production.

The exhibition runs until 12 October 2018.
