Digital Media staff have been involved with the delivery of transnational courses in China since 2015. Our collaboration with our partners has continued through the 2020 Covid-19 crisis, students are currently participating in online classes delivered from Te Auaha. Additional support for the students in China is facilitated by local teachers and translators.
Since 2015, staff from Whitireia have been travelling to Yiyang twice a year to teach 300 visual communication design students that are enrolled in this international partnership programme. Students study for three years in China before attending Whitireia to complete the third year of a degree. On completion of their study, students are awarded a Bachelor of Design degree from Hunan City University, and a Bachelor of Creativity degree from Whitireia. We were delighted when Zhu Haiwen (Kevin), one of the 2015 cohort who completed his studies at Te Auaha, received a top graduate award for 2019.
In the Chinese Autumn semester of 2018, staff from Whitireia began teaching animation focussed courses at Hangzhou VTC. 240 design students involved in the international partnership programme, study for three years in China before attending Whitireia to complete one and a half years of a degree. At the completion of their study, students will be awarded a Diploma from Hangzhou VTC, and a Bachelor of Creativity degree from Whitireia.
